My 20th Birthday

The 11th August of this year marked a very special occasion- it was finally my 20th birthday! I always said turning 20 both excited and completely terrified me, as leaving behind my teenage years felt so bittersweet, yet the thought of entering my 20s and being able to begin my life as a proper adult felt so compelling. So, despite your 20th not necessarily being a 'special' birthday, I felt I had achieved so much in the past year that I wanted to make it special, regardless. On Thursday the 9th August, myself and 2 of my best friends decided to celebrate by spending two days in London; sightseeing, eating, shopping and partying.

Once myself and my fellow blonde (ha) had navigated the underground, we spent the evening eating delicious takeaway, drinking wine and getting night out ready, in preparation for our night out in piccadilly. After waking up rather hungover and to the sight of sad looking weather, I was determined not to let the weather dampen my full day in the city, and so after a few more tube journeys, we ventured into central, visited the London Dungeons (which was a-mazing for someone like me with a fascination for english history), strolled around beautiful covent garden and stuffed our faces.

The following day (11th) was my 20th birthday. I spent the particularly rainy day drinking pink gin, opening presents and reading cards, going for afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols with my best friend and visiting family. By the evening however, I was more than ready for some drinks and dancing, and so after a few hours drinking and getting ready I went on my first night out of my twenties. The following day, feeling slightly worse for wear and full of a big breakfast, I concluded my birthday weekend by celebrating with my family, drinking more gin and eating as much cake as I could.

The best birthday week, and the most fun way to enter my twenties!
